5,000 jobs cut at
Rolls-Royce
Rolls-Royce, the
world’s second-largest aircraft engine maker, is to cut 5,000 jobs.
In Britain 3,800
people, 13 per cent of the total workforce, will lose their jobs.
A spokesman for the
company said “we’re not worried. We’re talking to someone recently released
from his previous company who we are confident can turn the situation round
for us. He has the full backing of the Chairman.”

Co-founder of
elite, Hertfordshire squash club, the Prats, announced his retirement
