Local Food & Drink

The intention of this page is to provide reviews of local pubs and restaurants from locals - obviously this will only work if you help by sending in your own!  They can be on pubs or restaurants and don't have to be food related i.e. you can just review your favourite or least favourite pub and I would welcome more than one review on any particular place.

Links to the two village pubs are both included, but who is going be the first to review them?

Obviously the reviews are personal to the reviewer(s) and are therefore not the necessarily the view of the website editor and perhaps only represent that one visit.  So if you want to go you will still have to make up your own mind, but why not let us have your review after you've been!  Please submit your reviews with the date of your visit to jontywild@pirton.org.uk or hand them to Jonty Wild.

Many of the reviews which get this area started are from Tracy & Dave Stephen, Jonty Wild & Irene Fussell (the '2nd Saturday of an Odd Month Diners Club' - see bottom of page) and may be up to 2 years old.  If you've been more recently, why not send in your opinion?

A little about the reviewer:
Reviews written by Barbara Primrose who went to all the above-listed restaurants with husband and 12 year old son with either friends or extended family. 

'2nd Saturday of an Odd Month Diners Club'

Basically this is Jonty Wild, Irene Fussell and friends Dave & Tracy Stephen, with Tracy having done most (almost all) of the work.  The Club(?) started sometime in the 4th quarter of 1997 whilst sitting in the garden at Redcoats we had a conversation about how nice it would be try new places instead of just visiting places we already knew to be good.  So we dreamt up the '2nd Saturday of an Odd Month Diners Club'.  

We laid down some ground rules (1) no-one must have visited the establishment in the last 2 years, (2) we take it in turn to choose and keep it secret from the other couple, (3) we take it in turns to drive, (4) we give the other couple a clue as to how much the bill might be and (5) the location must be within 50 miles - in practice, so far, they have been a lot closer. The scheme has been running for since January 1998 and the results are listed amongst the links below:
