Hello

My name is Carole Ansley. I live in New Zealand and am trying to trace the Crouch family history. I have come across your report of the Trial of Wm Fowler, Wm Kingsley, Wm Crouch & James Pitts on 13th March 1827 for sheep stealing. I am wondering if you could help me with the result of the trial whether William Crouch was transported or executed and any other relevant information. Or, perhaps, point me in the right direction.

I would appreciate any help you can give.

Regards, Carole Ansley.

Hi Jonty

A Happy New Year to you.  There is a book "Transported across the Seas" which lists all those transported from Beds and although I do not have a copy myself I can contact someone who does if you do not get a direct reply from such a person.

Let me know if I can be of further help.

Adrian

Hi Jonty

Ann Hanscombe bap 24/11/1752 died before 1763 when William Hanscombe and Mary Smith had a second Ann baptised 27 Oct 1763. I haven't found her burial entry yet but its pretty obvious they wouldn't have named the later child Ann if the first was still alive.

Alice Males was born 1 Apr 1887 Pirton, baptised 29 May 1887. She married John Baines 21 Jan 1905 Pirton. Her son Francis was born 1904, no other details on him. Alice's parents were Charles Males 1856 and Sarah Ann Chamberlain 1857, both of Pirton, married 22 Nov 1879. John Baines was the son of Samuel Baines 1854 and Louisa Mary Weeden 1852 married 25 Dec 1875 at Pirton, and both born in Pirton. I have all their lines going back several generations. All dates are from the Pirton BMD parish registers.

Cheers
Patti
