Dear Jonty,
I have been researching my family for several years now, and finally tracked my Grandfather Albert John Walker to Pirton. I have done quite well with census and Hertfordshire County Hall info. We have visited Pirton on 3 occasions and have a copy of "A foot on 3 daisies". My family includes part of the Lake, Presland, Kingsley and Hanscombe family through marriage and in fact my name should have been Lake, but for a slight slip up in a marriage date back in the 1800s! . I am very interested in obtaining any photographs of the family, and will obviously pay the cost of any reproduction.
My research so far includes the fact that a Walker ran almost every pub in Pirton at some stage, and the fact that my Great Grandfather John Walker burgled the White Horse pub (now the Motte and Bailey) run by HIS Grandfather, and nicked a bottle of brandy!
I have a family tree on computer should anyone be interested.
I have no objection to any of my particulars being published. And yes I have seen the Lake photos on the website, but I am not sure if they are part of my family. Can I contact David Gooch through the Pirton Website? (yes go to the appropriate page and click on the link - editor).
As a matter of interest, I am presently researching the emigration to New England of some Hanscomes, and there is a U.S.A. Airforce base just outside Concord, New Hampshire, called Hanscom field. Apparently in honour of a flyer who was killed of the same name.

P.S. In my last message I mentioned the U.S.Air Force base, Hanscom field in New Hampshire. For info. they sent me an obituary and photo of Laurence Hanscom, parents, Ford A. Hanscom, and Mary A. If anyone would like to read it, I can send it to them.
