Extra search help

Each section has a search facility which currently searches the whole website.  I have tried to use the spellings given to me, but they are not always consistent, e.g. Handscombe or Hanscombe.  It is be best to search only on lower case as the with find more and try different spellings or just parts of words, e.g. han, should find Handscombe or handscombe, Hanscombe and hanscombe, although it will also find Hannah etc!  More help on searching appears below.

To refine your search:

The text search engine allows queries to be formed from arbitrary Boolean expressions containing the keywords AND, OR, and NOT, and grouped with parentheses. For example:

smith john
finds documents containing 'information' or 'retrieval'
smith or john
same as above
smith and john
finds documents containing both 'information' and 'retrieval'
smith not john
finds documents containing 'information' but not 'retrieval'
(smith not john) and WAIS
finds documents containing 'WAIS', plus 'information' but not 'retrieval'
web*
finds documents containing words starting with 'web'
