The Rock Island Rebels were formed in 1991 by Mark Steadman, Chuck Heber-Hall, Gibson Keddie and Dave Beale. At that time their material was predominately based on the early Rockabilly sound. The Rebels could all sing in harmony so they soon decided to incorporate their own distinctive Doowop vocal style, and gradually incorporated other popular vocal hits of the era. The above CD consists of twelve tracks, this compilation was originally released on cassette and were studio recorded in 1995 by the original members with the help of guest musicians Phil Hughes on piano and keyboards, and Adam Miles on standup bass. Adam has also worked live with the band on more than one occasion. Usually a comparison between an act’s recorded sound and its live performance is inevitable. In the Rebels’ case however, they aim to reproduce their live sound as much as possible! The current lineup still delivers that sound and consists of: The band members would like to express grateful thanks to all their friends
and fans who have supported them over the years. Sample sounds can be heard by clicking on the links below, please bear in mind that they are shorten versions of tracks from their CD, are in mono (to save space and quicken downloads) so the quality may be reduced.
