Pirton Pumpkin Club - Now
Although we do have serious pumpkin growers and gardeners in our membership (and long may they remain), the Pumpkin Club is now mainly a social club aiming to raise money through membership fees and social events and then using that money for local projects and good causes. A few examples of how we spend the money are given below: See Pumpkin Projects * Annual Senior Citizens' Party *
Rebuilding the Duckpond Island * A Bench Seat in the Churchyard * Microphone
& Cutlery for Pirton Village Hall * A Village Hall PA * Restoration Of The
Holwell Church Clock * and Hopefully Many More Projects In The Future. We also produce occasional Pumpkin Club Newsletter and the Pirton & Holwell Events Calendar. If you are a local you are probably already benefiting from some of these. In addition we organise occasional social events, which in the past these have included:
* Quiz Evenings * Barn Dancing * Day Trips * Dwyle Flonking Competitions * Talks
* All intended to contribute to funds or provide a service. f you are already a member, we hope that you think that we are spending "your" money wisely and that we are doing a good job. If so you can show your approval by continuing to renew and therefore helping fund what we try to do and/or by supporting our events. If you have any other suggestions for events that we could run or how any funds should be spent we would be pleased to hear from you. pumpkinclub@pirton.org.uk If you would like to make another sort of contribution, we are always looking for volunteers to help with deliveries of the events calendar or to help at events and there are always vacancies on the Committee - it really isn't that onerous, it's always in a pub, in fact its quite good fun and a great way of meeting people. The meeting record stands at 29.5 minutes (13th August 1998 - the Chairman was on form that night!)
