Dear Member

Please note that membership fees for the coming 2010/2011 season are now due (see attached application form).

As affiliated members of the LTA we have been allocated 7 pairs of Wimbledon tickets. Only those who have signed up for British Tennis membership can be included in the ballot for these tickets. If you haven’t done so already, you can still join although in order to be included in the ballot, this will have to be by the end of this month (April). You can join via their web site www.LTA.org.uk/BritishTennisMembership.

Tennis Club members will continue to have priority use of the multi-user games area (MUGA) from 1st April through to the 30th September. This is not however exclusive use – the Parish Council are trying to encourage the formation of a basketball club, and their members will be allocated some fixed times each week to use the MUGA facilities. Tennis Club members will be allowed to use the courts between October and March, but will not have priority. Given the very low usage of the MUGA, this should not be a problem.

The Datchworth League tennis starts again on the 27th April. It is played on a Monday evening (at about 6:30pm) and teams are made up of two men and one woman. We are still languishing in the lowest division of the league, but nevertheless it does provide a mix of friendly but competitive tennis. We are always looking for players, so if you are interested please let me know. We will have a pool of players to choose from, so you will not be expected to have to play every week (unless you want to).

Hopefully you will renew your membership. If you do so, please remember that in fairness to other members of the club, the key provided to access to the courts should only be used by those individuals for whom a membership fee has been paid.

The lock to the court will be changed at the end of April.

Tuesday club nights have started, and we are already getting a good turnout. Please remember that from 8pm onwards, club nights are predominantly for adult members. We would very much like to accommodate junior members at an earlier time, but would like this to be supervised by one or more adult members. Please let me know if you would be prepared to volunteer for this.
