All,

Further to the last 6 months and a very recent e-mail exchange with Jonty I am pleased to report that the deliberations of the planning department have just been published. It is part of the documents prepared for presentation to cabinet on the 24th of June and is included as an attachment to this e-mail.

As expected "we have a result" the relevant section is:-

Item 9 recommendation

9.1 That the six areas of search identified as possible locations for the provision of a Gipsy and Traveller site in the Land Allocations Issues and Options DPD be removed from consideration at the forthcoming Preferred Options stage as they are regarded as unsuitable locations for such a use.

9.2 That the focus for the provision of Gipsy and Traveller sites in North Hertfordshire, as required by the East of England Plan Single Issue Review, is satisfied in the SNAP area to be removed from the Green Belt as a result of the growth planned at Stevenage.

The section particularly relating to Pirton can be found on pp 22 - 26, pp 4 - 12 are also of interest.

In view of the apparent finality of the above we have decided that any further representations to Cabinet would not serve any useful purpose, some of us will however go along on the 24th to witness the "last rites". It is totally a matter of choice whether or not you join us.

It may be that we organise a "debriefing session"/celebratory gathering in the not too distant future, you will, of course, be informed if this is the case. Otherwise it would seem to be the end of an interesting chapter in the history of Pirton.

Many thanks and much appreciation to ALL.

D. (Dave Saunders, P.P.C. chairman)
